The Dryden Literacy Team works with small groups of students to diagnose reading difficulties and provide targeted instruction to strengthen deficits and improve literacy skills. We also strive to help students enjoy reading and develop a passion for literature. In order to accomplish those goals and effectively meet student needs, we utilize a variety of high quality, research based reading programs and instructional materials. Some of them are featured below.
Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) for K-2
Students work in small groups, which are flexible, depending on the students' needs. Lessons ensure reinforcement of new learning and support accelerated progress. Each lesson provides instruction in phonics/word study, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing.

Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) for 3-5
Similar to the primary level LLI program, students work in small groups to read and discuss fiction and informational text that is at their guided reading level. At the intermediate grades, word study continues to be a component of each lesson, but the focus of reading shifts to comprehension, where students practice responding orally and in writing to various aspects of the book. Students learn to support their thinking with evidence from the text.
